Confidentiality
We offer the highest level of confidentiality consistent with the law and the BACP Ethical Framework. In general, we do not disclose information about anyone using our services without their express consent. Wherever possible, whatever you share with us stays with us. The main exceptions to this are:
- when the law requires us to do so
- when we have serious concerns that you or another person may be at risk of harm
- when we need to comply with other safeguarding requirements
There may also be times that you would authorise us to disclose your records, such as when you have worked in Pre-Trial Therapy and the police request them. You might also need to release them if you are pursuing a claim through the Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority (CICA).
