6 February marks the International Day of Zero Tolerance for Female Genital Mutilation (FGM).
Although in the last few decades the practice has been decreasing, it remains a prevalent issue for girls and women all around the world.
The statistics show us why continuous effort is needed to eradicate FGM. Until this form of honour-based violence is eradicated, women and girls remain at risk of being subjected to another form of gendered violence.
