Globally, 1 in 3 (30%) of women have been subjected to either physical and/or sexual intimate partner violence or non-partner sexual violence in their lifetime.
16 Days of Activism is a worldwide campaign fighting against gender-based violence. Every year, it starts on 25 November and ends 10 December.
Violence against women and girls (VAWG) remains the most common violation of human rights in the world, despite women constituting more than 50% of the total population. This violence can takes many forms, including intimate partner violence, female genital mutilation, femicide, and sexual abuse.
While men and boys also suffer from many of these forms of abuse, they disproportionately affect women.
Sexual violence includes any sexual activity which took place without consent.
Here, at Revival – Wiltshire Rape and Sexual Abuse Centre, we understand that not everyone experiences sexual violence and abuse the same way.
One of our goals is to involve local community in supporting survivors of sexual violence and reduce shame around this topic.
It doesn’t matter when or where. No one should suffer in silence.
